Zadok has been an avid "reader" since before he could walk...
Now with the riches of multiple libraries now available to us, choosing new stories is a highlight of every week. Of course books along the lines of "Old truck, new truck, red truck, blue truck,"
abound--read ad infinitum, ad nausem to delight the souls of little boys. But we've also collected quite a list that Mother and Zadok equally enjoy. So, in no particular order, here's some of our favorites from the past year that you can look for in your own libraries.
Gus's Garage by Leo Timmers
Billions of Bricks: A Counting Book about Building by Kurt Cyrus
Joseph's Big Ride by Terry Farish
Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle
Poor Doreen: A Fishy Tale by Sally Lloyd-Jones
Hey Diddle Diddle by Eve Bunting
Whose Shoe? by Eve Bunting
My Father Knows the Names of Things by Jane Yolen
Stone Soup retold and illustrated by Marcia Brown
The Princess and the Pea retold and illustrated by Rachel Isadora
The Fisherman's Wife retold and illustrated by Rachel Isadora
Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel
Tap Tap, Boom Boom by Elizabeth Bluemel
Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type by Doreen Cronin
Thumbtack Dancer by Leslie Tryon

All packed up and ready to move...
Qorban revels in the chaos...
The sun-starved nasturtium seedlings are hoping for better light in their new home...
Qorban does a tour of inspection at 4721 Hummel...
Zadok insures that we don't forget the milk...
...and the kitchen and bedrooms are finally set up. We can all breathe a sigh of relief, and sit down.

I've been looking forward to making "Oobleck" with Zadok since he was born, and on a recent chilly, rainy afternoon the time seemed right. Fun was had by all.
However, the foods coloring used was very potent, or perhaps I put too much in. Our hands were blue for days afterward.
On another note, the tropical plant of unknown pedigree that I rescued from a soggy death at ALDI has been positively identified. It is a Ti plant, also known as a Good Luck Plant. Whether or not it will enjoy life with us remains to be seen.

Qorban is seven months old...actually he was last week. How time does fly! And our days in Hickory Trace, our first American home, are numbered. March 17 is our tentative moving date. We'll all be wearing green as we stack boxes and wrestle our furniture into submission.
