The boys and I played a game where they had to complete popular sayings and proverbs. If they didn't already know the original version, they were supposed to finish it in way that made sense to them.
"If you can't beat them...you have to cheat." (Q)

Here's a brief and belated guide to making Flower Catalogue Valentines...
This seems to be the time of year when flower and seed catalogues start arriving in the mail, and they're too pretty to waste!
Begin by cutting out as many heart shapes as you plan to use from thick cardstock. Then, choose the pictures you want to use and snip them out of the catalogue...
Cut them into small squares (roughly 1x1, depending on the size of your cardstock heart.)
Paste them on to cover every bit of exposed cardstock. Bits will hang off the edges, of course, but that's fine, you'll cut them off when you're done.
And here are the finished Valentines! You can use this same collage technique for making regular cards, too.

A beautiful winter day at one of our local parks...
While fencing with sticks is still popular, basketball soccer is the sport of the season...
The deer seem to enjoy this park as much as we do.

Guess what?
WE GOT SNOW!
I'm pretty sure this was the most snow Qorban and Ayesha had ever seen at one time, and the most Zadok would remember seeing.
Snowmen, snow angels and a snowball fight or two (complete with injuries) were in order.
It all melted away in the rain after a couple of days, but it was fun while it lasted.

We welcomed the Congo cousins to the States at the beginning of January...
The chaos just reached (but did not exceed) the level that makes life feel worth living...
Nobody froze to death...
And fun was had by all!

Stockings on Christmas morning...
Retro toys are still just as much fun for the up and coming generation...
And art supplies always appreciated!
