September 12, 2014

Our first days back in Kabul can be summed up in one word...dust. The house was thick with it--less so now, thankfully, after two days of work. We're all experiencing a little discomfort as we readjust to the dryness and dust. It's the hardest for Zadok, of course, but he has been very brave. Lots of sleep and lots of nursing help.

The first day back I didn't have much milk to give him. Friends recommended I should indulge in this:

It's a bit like a honeydew melon, but sweeter. Lacking an English name, I shall call it the "milk melon."

I think it's 2nd Chapter of Acts that sings, "He has taken me from the dust and to dust I shall return..."
That chorus has been stuck in my head of late.

  1. So good to see a sweet picture of my grandson!!! His little bracelet and sweet face make me so happy. For some reason, this time around, you don't feel so far away, maybe because you were with us for so long. How is the milk melon working! Love, Mother
